Sozopol - The Town of Arts
Festival of Arts "Apollonia" is a big Bulgarian festival, which is held annually in late summer in the seaside town of Sozopol. Its chief organiser is Foundation for Art "Apollonia", created in 1991. The first edition of the Festival of Arts was held in 1984. Its duration is ten days, during which time can be seen more than 70 events - theatre performances, concerts out
doors, chamber and jazz concerts, film screenings. The Art Gallery in Old Town are organised exhibitions and literary evenings as part of the event. Are conducted master classes in various disciplines - singing, piano, jazz improvisation, theatre. In all categories, there is always presence and children's creativity. Bulgarian and foreign artists and ensembles world-class take part in Apollonia. The theatre program provides an opportunity for theatre lovers to watch a selection of the latest and best performances. Since its inception, the festival has presented exhibitions in Sozopol of more than 150 renowned Bulgarian artists and photographers. It has organized literary evenings of dozens of writers - poets and writers from different generations. Every year the program of the Art Festival includes a projection of Bulgarian documentaries and feature films. Many of the films are premieres.
